Rooting an Android phone is to take the complete control over it, it is like getting administrator access on a PC. Ever phone manufacturer has locked the full control over the phone and set it to typical user interference. Many of the features are great but some features don’t work for you. Rooting allows you to customize the default skin and to install the custom skins. I f you have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, you can load the features of Galaxy S III. Cool yeah?

Next question is that Where can we find the customization? Android Community. Android is open source.

Disadvantages of rooting.

1. Rooting voids phone warranty-You can’t bring rooted phones back to service or for warranty work.
2. Rooting involves a possibility in bricking your phone-A bricked phone is a dead phone better not to carry that.
3. Poor Performance-Though people root their phones for better performance there is a chance for poor performance and may make your phone slow as a snail.
4. Get trapped under virus-Rooting introduces a risk of getting the phone trapped under virus.

Advantages of rooting.

1. Running special apps-Some apps can only be run on a rooted phone, the best example is Superuser, allows you to control which apps have the access to root system.
2. Free Internal memory-By default when you install an app to your phone it get stored into your internal memory. Rooting allows you to move installed apps to your SD card, thus you can save your phone memory.
3. Custom ROMs-Rooting allows you to add hundreds of custom ROMs that have the potentials to speed up the processing speed to changing the entire look and feel of your phone.

Before taking decision to root your phone.

You should never root before thinking at the bright side of things, always remember the disadvantages. Rooting anew phone is not suggested because your experience is low may be the phone can get any complaint and you cannot take the phone rooted to the service center. You can root your phone which is old and the warrant is outdated and if it’s not working properly, no need to think about rooting just know how to root.
