Testing Windows 10 on your phone may seem exciting but the OS version that’s available is a Technical Preview of Windows 10. Windows 10 is now compatible only on Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730, Lumia 830.
Steps to install Windows 10:
- To install Windows 10 for phone, the device should be running with Windows 8.1. Confirm this by going to Settings>Info>About. Make sure there’s at least 1 GB of free space on your phone and use a reliable Wi-Fi connection, just to play it safe.
- Sign up for Windows Insider Program from Here.(Microsoft Account needed)
- Download and install the Windows Insider app on your phone.
- Launch the downloaded app and sign in with your Microsoft account credentials.
- Tap the ‘Get preview builds’ option.
- There will be two update tracks out which you would have to opt for:
- Insider Slow: It will give you less frequent, but more stable updates.
- Insider Fast: It will offer updates as soon as Microsoft releases them.
- Select the track. Confirm that you are installing the experimental release of the software by tapping on accept.
- Select the type of updates you want (slow or fast), confirm your choice and then you can go to your phone’s Settings>phone>update and use the ‘check for updates’ option.
